The mountain dairy farm is situated on the west side of Haukelifjell 10 km east of Røldal.  The area is quite suitable for families with children. We have ourselves lived in the cabin for a period of 3 months during each summer from the years 1983 until 1998. 200 meters from the cabin there is a small lake in which it is possible to swim and fish. Near by there is a small old stone cabin that is used as a playhouse. The territory is open and easy to explore. 

Possibilities of taking trips during summer and winter are phenomenal, anything from short walks in the surrounding area to overnight rambles within Hardangers wide-open spaces with breathtaking scenery.  We would particularly like to mention the perfect possibilities there are for spring skiing in this area.

For those that prefer downhill skiing it is 20 km. to Røldal Skiing center and 25 km. to Vågslid Skiing center.

Røldal is a mountain district that is situated within the mountain wilds directly under Hardangers wide-open spaces. The most known attraction in Røldal is the beautiful stave church from 1200 century. Other attractions are Røldal local history museum and Røldal’s goat's milk cheese factory. Røldal lake has good fishing opportunities, it is also possible to rent a small boat.

Tarjebudalen is a good starting point for trips by car if you wish to experience Norwegian nature at its best. From the farm it is possible to visit four fiords within 1 to 1 ½ hour by car. We would highly recommend Hardangerfiord with all its sights such as Låte waterfall, Vørings waterfall, Folgefonna (2^nd largest glazier in Norway), Buerbren (special part of the glazier), Agayard, Odda Industry museum and Hardangervidda Naturecenter amoungst other.
